The senior IT consultant is responsible for managing a team of technical engineers to provide technical maintenance services and sound IT infrastructure consultancy to customers. The incumbent should possess good technical skillsets and knowledge in facility management with effective methods, strategies and SOP to maintain customers’ operational requirement and build good customers’ relationship. His/her scope of work includes assisting the engineers in their day-to-day troubleshooting and resolution of technical problems, review customers’ IT infrastructure design, propose and effecting solutions/configuration changes to improve the security posture and resiliency of the customers’ IT infrastructure.

 

  • Manage the smooth delivery of IT infrastructure support operations in accordance with stipulated Service Level Agreements (SLA)
  • Support and guide the engineers in troubleshooting of IT infrastructure problems
  • Plan and monitor team activities and resource allocation for optimal performance
  • Oversee the management of IT infrastructure incidents and changes; ensure all high severity impact incidents are acted promptly and closed and timely execution of configuration changes/patches
  • Provision of technical recommendations for improvement on IT infrastructure, including analysing and fine-tuning IT infrastructure design if needed
  • Prepare and present monthly operation reports to customers
  • Ensure IT infrastructure complies with security policies
  • Recommend and coordinate the follow up actions (application of fixes, patches etc) arising from security breach or audit finding
  • Maintain and update assets, processes and procedural documents including capacity reports
  • Work with project teams to undertake the installation and configuration of IT infrastructure systems
  • Any other ad-hoc duties as required or assigned
  • Degree or diploma in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related studies
  • At least 5 years of related working experience in leading a support team to deliver services to customers
  • Good domain knowledge and experience on the following, but not limited to:
  • Network services e.g. DNS, DHCP, SMTP, NTP, Load Balancer
  • Security eg. firewall technologies, IDS/IPS, SIEM, Log Analyser, Endpoint Protection
  • Enterprise wide LAN, WLAN, WAN administration
  • Distribution and Core Switching, Routing, VPN, SSL/IPSec
  • Proficient in implementation and troubleshooting of hardware such as Routers, Switches, WLC modems, APs, network interface cards, IPS, Firewalls, IPS, LB, Proxies, ClearPass, ISE, Mobileiron, Structured Cabling etc, in particular major brands such as Cisco, Alcatel, Palo Alto, Checkpoint, Aruba and Solarwinds
  • Certification in ITIL, network and/or security are preferred
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and good people management skills with the drive to excel and achieve goals
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, combined with the ability to provide quick resolution to problems
  • Ability to provide clear instructions to team members and formulate strategies in problem solving
  • Possess good communication attributes with effective presentation and report writing skills
  • Good understanding of a services business in a high-tech environment from a supplier, integrator or operator’s perspective
  • Self-driven and ability to work independently
